Privacy Policy

Hanakana collects no data about you. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.

Who we are

Hanakana is made by Szymon Krolikiewicz, Rabbit Soft, Poznań, Poland. If you have any question about privacy, write to szymon@rabbitsoft.pl.

What stays on your device

Your progress: the kana you have practised, your answers, and when each kana comes back for review.
Your settings: how you answer, writing practice, which rows you practise, sound and haptics, and the script shown on the garden.

They are kept in the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad and are never sent to us or to anyone else. If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, they are part of that backup, which Apple handles under Apple's Privacy Policy. Deleting the app deletes them.

What you write with your finger or Apple Pencil is checked on your device and is not kept. The kana's voice is your device's own Japanese voice, and nothing is recorded.

Purchases

"Unlock all kana" is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never receive your name, email address or payment details. The app only asks the App Store whether the unlock belongs to you, or to your family through Family Sharing.

No third parties

Hanakana contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code, and it does not connect to any server of ours.

Children

Hanakana is suitable for all ages. Because it collects nothing, it collects nothing about children either.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. You remain in control of everything the app keeps on your device and can remove it at any time by deleting the app. You still have every right under the GDPR, including to complain to a supervisory authority; in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. If the app ever starts collecting data, this page will say so before it does.
